Ideas For Digi Pack

  

This is the first draft of the digipack cover  for our artist Faith Franklin and her new album Dark Fantasy. We love this shot and the editing. In the image you can see the artists face four times. This relates to how there are many different points of view and thoughts on a situation and how nothing is ever simple. We also wanted to create the idea that fantasy's have no limits, this is why we see the artists face several times. It also impacts the audience and makes our artist more memorable. The facial expression of the artist is very serious and this is relatable to the songs that would be on the album. Although they would vary from happy tones to sad tones, the majority of the album is negative: this is implied through the use of 'dark' in the title of the album. We have used the rule of thirds again, however in this still image, by having the start of Faith's name not in the centre of the album cover. It is positioned towards the left of the photograph. The effects on the image give the connotations of fantasy's and dreams due to the way that the swirl and glide across the image of Faith's face. She appears to be almost star struck from this. The colours are very earthy showing how this is a down to earth album from a very real person. This real personality relates to the edginess of our artist.                       We liked this picture because we thought it clearly portrayed 'Faiths' beauty. The reason why we chose this one amongst the others is because we think that her eyes pop and lure you in. This is good because we want to catch peoples eyes and make them feel like they want to know more about her. We edited the picture to black and white and also used plain black text because we wanted to correlate with the words 'Dark Fantasy'. Its a dark mysterious name, so we figured that the black and white theme leaves the same effect. we put Faiths hair onto the side because we didn't want to give too much away, we wanted her bare neck and shoulders to be on show. By not revealing too much in the cover picture, people would feel more intrigued to want to find out more. We took this image opposite a mirror so that the reflection of 'Faiths' back was visible. We wanted to give off the affect that somebody is standing behind her, I think this idea worked very successfully. However, we didn't choose this as our final choice for the front cover because it hasn't got a lot going on, and the colours generally look quite dull, and in comparison with the likes of Rihanna or Miley Cyrus' album covers, we wouldn't get noticed on a shelf.
